What is the difference between commitment and not? Ownership. Sometimes we kid ourselves that we “should” do something and later discover in fact that we did it for all sorts of reasons and perhaps all sorts of other people. Why didn’t it work out? We just didn’t own it ourselves.
Taking ownership brings your ideas on your future together. It means allowing the space for a heartfelt commitment to emerge and which drives any action to engage and shift the way you behave.
Techniques to help taking ownership are crucial to circumventing the normal resistance to change which tends to appear as we approach the cusp of real change. We practice these techniques to develop an open and honest willingness to shift from our current way of being to the way we would like to be.
